The Washington University Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (WUIMIS) plays an active role in the training of practicing surgeons and fellows in laparoscopic techniques.

  • Course offerings for practicing surgeons. Each year, the Institute sponsors several courses for the practicing surgeon who wants to learn more about laparoscopic procedures and instrumentation. Learn more about course offerings.
  • MIS Fellowship. Surgeons in the sections of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Colorectal Surgery, Department of Surgery, offer a one-year clinical fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. The fellow receives clinical surgical training and devotes one day a week to clinical research projects. He or she works with five attendings who have significant practices in minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal (GI), abdominal, endocrine and colorectal surgery. Learn more about MIS Fellowship.
